Well, things sure have gotten really interesting for the Detroit Tigers following a disastrous week to conclude the home portion for their 2025 regular season where they were swept in back-to-back series against Cleveland Guardians and Atlanta Braves.
All of a sudden, the American League Central race has gotten uncomfortably close due to the Guardians’ current hot streak, and The Tigers have fallen behind in the race for a bye in the Wild Card Round.
Oh yeah, and it’s STILL not a guarantee that they make the playoffs with one week to go in the season.
Here’s how the A.L. Central looks going into the final six games:
AMERICAN LEAGUE CENTRAL
- Detroit Tigers – 85-71
- Cleveland Guardians – 84-72 (1 GB)
- Kansas City Royals – 78-78 (7 GB)
- Minnesota Twins – 67-89 (18 GB)
- Chicago White Sox – 58-98 (27 GB)
There weren’t many highlights from the past week, but there were a couple:

The Tigers end the regular season on the road as they look to avoid one of the biggest collapses in Major League Baseball history:
- September 23rd-25th at Cleveland Guardians (Progressive Field)
- September 26-28th at Boston Red Sox (Fenway Park)
