Another year, another NHL Draft Lottery where the Detroit Red Wings don’t catch any kind of break.
The Red Wings had an 87.5% chance to staying at #12 overall and only a 5.1% chance of grabbing the #2 overall selection, but as past years have already shown, the lottery hates Detroit.
For the first time since 2009 when John Tavares was selected #1 overall, the New York Islanders will pick first in the draft after only having a 3.5% chance of moving up and are currently without a general manager.
The Red Wings have never moved up in the lottery since general manager Steve Yzerman took over in 2019.
