Pistons’ magical season ends with a first round playoff exit in six games by New York

It was a turnaround of historic proportions for the Detroit Pistons that included tripling their win total from a season ago; making the postseason for the first time in a handful of seasons; and winning a playoff game for the first time since the 2008 postseason.

This young Pistons group gave the experienced New York Knicks all they could handle during their first round playoff matchup that saw almost every game come down to the final moments.

In the end, what did the young Pistons in was the inability to close out in the final moments of regulation, especially at home, and run into some bad luck with calls not going their way as the Knicks would close out the series in six games, 4-2, while taking all three games in Detroit after going 1-2 at home in the series.

The Knicks will take on the Boston Celtics in the second round of the playoffs this weekend.

Now, it’s up to Trajan Langdon and the front office staff to see what they can do this offseason to try and bolster the roster and build off of this season’s successful run to the playoffs.
