Tigers continue Orioles’ woes in Game 2 for DH sweep

Detroit’s Riley Greene hammered a three-run homer to add to the misery for Baltimore Orioles pitcher Charlie Morton and the host Tigers went on to win 6-2 on Saturday night to complete a doubleheader sweep.Spencer Torkelson provided a two-run double and the Tigers won for the fourth time in their last five games. Brant Hurter (1-0) was the winning pitcher with 2 1/3 innings of relief.The Orioles have been swept in 14 of their last 27 doubleheaders without a sweep in their favor during a stretch that extends almost nine years. Gunnar Henderson had two of Baltimore’s six hits, but it marked the team’s fifth loss in six games.The Tigers won 4-3 in the afternoon opener following Friday night’s rainout.Tigers starter Keider Montero, in his third outing of the season, went 4 1/3 innings, giving up one run on four hits with two walks and two strikeouts.The Orioles used Morton in relief after Keegan Akin pitched 1 2/3 innings. But it looked like previous outings this spring for the veteran right-hander as Morton (0-6) surrendered Greene’s blast in the third inning.Morton entered the day with a 10.89 earned-run average, and that mark was at 10.36 following his 3 2/3-inning stint. He allowed three hits and issued five walks while striking out three.It was Greene’s fourth homer of the season but his first since April 4.
