Michigan Panthers Finish 2022 Season Second-To-Last, Lock Up First Overall Pick For Next Season’s USFL Draft

It wasn’t a pretty 2022 season for the Michigan Panthers in Year #1 of the USFL’s reboot.

After picking 1st overall in the 2022 USFL Draft, the Panthers will pick first in every round during the upcoming USFL Draft in 2023 after winning their regular season finale against the Pittsburgh Maulers, 33-21, in which the winner of the game would capture that coveted #1 overall selection.

Here’s how the USFL standings panned out through the ten-week regular season:

NORTH DIVISION
New Jersey Generals (9-1)
Philadelphia Stars (6-4)
Michigan Panthers (2-8)
Pittsburgh Maulers (1-9)

SOUTH DIVISION
Birmingham Stallions (9-1)
New Orleans Breakers (6-4)
Tampa Bay Bandits (4-6)
Houston Gamblers (3-7)

PLAYOFFS: Philadelphia Stars vs. New Jersey Generals & New Orleans Breakers vs. Birmingham Stallions

We’ll see if the Panthers can do better with the #1 overall pick in 2023 after their #1 overall selection in 2022, former Michigan Quarterback Shea Patterson, was released in late May and immediately picked up by the New Orleans Breakers to serve as a backup quarterback.
