Matthew Stafford had a down year in 2018 along with many other players for the Detroit Lions. The team had a disappointing first season under Matt Patricia, going just 6-10.
Stafford failed to reach 4,000 yards passing for the first time since 2010. His quarterback rating dropped ten points as well from 2017 to 2018.
Pro Football Focus released a rankings article on all 32 starting quarterbacks in the NFL. Steve Palazallo ranked Stafford 15th on his list, which falls into tier 3 of quarterbacks. Here’s his explanation of that tier:
Tier 3: Volatile or conservative quarterbacks whose production will rely even more heavily on supporting cast and play calling. Tier 3 quarterbacks can post top-10 production in any given year in the right situation.
Do you think Stafford is too high on this list? Too low?
