Walk-off field goal from Jake Bates lifts Lions to home victory over Green Bay

It wasn’t pretty, but the Detroit Lions returned from the Bye Week this past Sunday with a hard-fought victory inside Ford Field in downtown Detroit over NFC North rival Green Bay Packers courtesy of timely defense, just enough offense, and miscues from the Packers’ special teams units.

Ultimately, Detroit set themselves up for a game-winning chip shot field goal from Jake Bates with no time left on the clock to walk away with a 20-17 victory to improve to 4-2 on the season.

With the setback, Green Bay dropped to 4-3 overall.

The Lions will stay at home this coming Sunday for another key NFC North bout as the last remaining unbeaten team in the NFL comes to Ford Field in the 6-0 Minnesota Vikings for a 1 pm kickoff.
