The #13-ranked Grand Valley State Football went toe-to-toe with Division II’s best team in the rival and #1-ranked Ferris State Bulldogs in the annual Anchor-Bone Classic inside Lubbers Stadium in Allendale and were able to get off to a fast 17-0 lead after the first quarter of play.
However, the middle two quarters were not kind to the host Lakers as the Bulldogs rattled off the next 34 points and held on in the waning moments to claim a 41-34 road victory to stay unbeaten at 7-0 overall and 3-0 in GLIAC play while keeping the Anchor-Bone Trophy in Big Rapids.
With the loss, GVSU fell to 5-2 overall and 1-2 in the conference.
