During his two seasons with the Wolverines, the 49-year-old May compiled a 64-13 record that included a Big Ten Tournament title during the 2024-25 season and a Big Ten Regular Season and National Championship during the 2025-26 season.
In his eight seasons at the collegiate level between Florida Atlantic and Michigan, May totaled a 126-69 record to go with four consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances.
Reportedly, Michigan is planning on promoting from within to try and keep the current roster together for the upcoming season.
Michigan is promoting assistant Mike Boynton to interim head coach, a source confirmed.

Wolverines AD Warde Manuel will continue meeting with players and staff today on the heels of Dusty May leaving Ann Arbor for the Dallas Mavericks.
What remains to be seen is whether or not Warde Manuel will give Mike Boynton the permanent head coaching gig or look elsewhere for a new head coach.
Only time will tell.
