#8 GVSU Football uses big second half to pull away from Northern Michigan

It got a little bit nervous after one half of play up at the Superior Dome in Marquette, but ultimately, the #8-ranked Grand Valley State Football got back to what they do best in the second half, and that’s control the line of scrimmage.

After going into the halftime locker room tied at 7-7, the Lakers exploded in the third quarter outscoring the host Wildcats by a 21-0 margin, 28-0 if you include GVSU scoring on the very first play of the fourth quarter, and cruised the rest of the way to 35-7 victory to improve their record to 4-1 overall and 2-0 in the GLIAC play.

With the loss, the Wildcats have now dropped 28 straight contests going back to the beginning of the 2023 regular season.

The Lakers return home to Lubbers Stadium this coming weekend for the annual “Battle of the Valleys” showdown against the Saginaw Valley State Cardinals (3-3, 2-0 GLIAC) with kickoff in Allendale on Saturday afternoon slated for 2 pm.
