Recently, it seems like the Detroit Tigers have been going through the motions as we hit the final few weeks of the 2025 regular season, and this past week was no exception following a 2-4 homestand at Comerica Park that saw the Tigers drop two of three against both the New York Mets and Chicago White Sox.
The pitching, outside of Tarik Skubal’s continued dominance, has been suspect lately, and the offense has been inconsistent, but through all of the recent struggles, Detroit still finds themselves in the thick of the race for the best record in the American League only a half-game behind the Toronto Blue Jays.
In regards to the American League Central race, the magic number, slowly but surely, continues to dwindle down in favor of the Tigers as the teams behind them have not been able to sustain any kind of winning streak to close the gap:
AMERICAN LEAGUE CENTRAL
- Detroit Tigers – 82-62
- Kansas City Royals – 73-70 (8.5 GB)
- Cleveland Guardians – 72-70 (9 GB)
- Minnesota Twins – 63-80 (18.5 GB)
- Chicago White Sox – 55-89 (27 GB)
There were a few highlights from the week that was to take note of, and we’ll start with the obvious on the mound:
