Life on the road can have its ups and downs, and that is definitely true when it comes to the grind of a long baseball season.
Case in point, the Detroit Tigers took to the road last week for a long trip out to Sacramento and Kansas City to battle the Athletics and Royals and came away with a sub-.500 record of 2-4 that included getting swept by the Athletics before salvaging the trip by taking two of three from the Royals.
Still, Detroit is in the thick of the race for the #1 seed in American League with their 80 wins on the season while holding a comfortable lead at the top of the American League Central.
Here’s how the A.L. Central looks as we head into the final month of the regular season:
AMERICAN LEAGUE CENTRAL
- Detroit Tigers – 80-58
- Kansas City Royals – 70-67 (9.5 GB)
- Cleveland Guardians – 68-67 (10.5 GB)
- Minnesota Twins – 62-74 (17 GB)
- Chicago White Sox – 49-88 (30.5 GB)
Even though last week had its challenges, there were still a few highlights to look back on:
