For the first time this season, the Detroit Tigers had to battle through some extended adversity staring at its longest losing streak of the 2025 regular season of six games that began right before the All-Star Break and ended on Sunday night down in Texas.
The week before the break began with the Tigers grabbing two of three at home against the Tampa Bay Rays before getting swept in a three-game week home series against the Seattle Mariners.
Right out of the break, Detroit’s offense struggled all weekend on the road against the Texas Rangers that saw them drop the first two games of the series before grinding out a Sunday Night Baseball win to put a halt to the losing streak.
Before everyone goes into complete panic mode, the Tigers still hold the best record in all of Major League Baseball and became the first time to hit 60 victories:
The Tigers (60 wins) still continue to fend off other teams chasing them for the league’s best record that include the Chicago Cubs (59 wins), Milwaukee Brewers (59 wins), Toronto Blue Jays (58 wins), and Los Angeles Dodgers (58 wins) among others.
In regards to the American League Central, none of the other four teams chasing the Tigers have made much ground for the top spot in the division:
AMERICAN LEAGUE CENTRAL STANDINGS
DETROIT TIGERS – 60-40
Cleveland Guardians – 48-50 (11 GB)
Minnesota Twins – 48-51 (11.5 GB)
Kansas City Royals – 48-52 (12 GB)
Chicago White Sox – 35-65 (25 GB)
We’re only to highlight one individual standout for this week’s report because this guy just continues to dominate on the mound, especially when the Tigers really needed him to show out to try and stop their most recent slide:
In order to stop the losing streak, you do need the offense to come up clutch:

- July 21st-23rd at Pittsburgh Pirates (PNC Park)
