Detroit Tigers ace Tarik Skubal got the nod as the American League starting pitcher during Tuesday’s night MLB All-Star Game down in Atlanta, but his one inning outing didn’t go as planned as the National League took advantage of a few seeing-eye hits to jump out to an early 2-0 lead in the first inning.
The lead eventually grew to 6-0 in favor of the National League through six innings of play before the American League roared back with four runs in the seventh and a pair in the ninth to draw the game even at 6-6 after nine innings were complete.
The game would be resolved in a three against three swing-off that saw the NL outslug the AL, four home runs to three.
As for the Tigers All-Stars, here’s a break down of how each one of them performed:
- Tarik Skubal – 1 inning, 3 hits, 2 earned runs, 2 strikeouts
- Casey Mize – 2/3 inning, 1 hits, 1 earned run (HR allowed), 1 strikeout
- Gleyber Torres (lead-off hitter) – 0-2, 1 strikeout
- Riley Greene (#2 hitter) – 0-3, 2 strikeouts
- Javy Baez (#8 hitter) – 0-2
- Zach McKinstry – 0-1
