The ten-game road trip for the Detroit Tigers got underway this past week with seven games in as many days, and the week ended with a winning record of 4-3 that concluded with taking three of four from the struggling Los Angeles Angels over the weekend after dropping two of three earlier in the week against the Houston Astros.
The Tigers continue to hold the best record in the American League and one of the best in baseball as we fully dive into the month of May as they continue to hold off the pesky Cleveland Guardians for the top spot in the American League Central.
Here’s how the A.L. Central looks through the first 35 games of the Tigers season:
AMERICAN LEAGUE CENTRAL STANDINGS
DETROIT TIGERS – 22-13
Cleveland Guardians – 20-14 (1.5 GB)
Kansas City Royals – 19-16 (3 GB)
Minnesota Twins – 15-20 (7 GB)
Chicago White Sox – 10-24 (11.5 GB)
Again, there were a lot of standouts from the week that was, but for this week, we’re going to focus on the offense as they exploded in a big way out in Anaheim:
After a day off on Monday, the Tigers wrap up the road trip to begin this week against the worst team in baseball and end the week back at home against a team that recently fired their hitting coach:
- May 6-8th at Colorado Rockies (Coors Field)
- May 9-11th vs. Texas Rangers (Comerica Park)
