Tigers slip in A.L. Central standings following losing week against St. Louis and New York Yankees

While the Detroit Tigers are still above the .500 mark overall at 18-16, their position within the American League Central standings as slipped quickly after posting a 2-4 week against the St. Louis Cardinals (home) and New York Yankees (road).

The Tigers did take two of three against the Cardinals to extend their series winning streak to four straight to begin this past week, but the weekend in The Bronx did not treat Detroit well as they were swept by the Yankees in three games, which happened to be the first time all season the Tigers were swept in a series.

Detroit currently sits four games back of first-place Cleveland and 1.5 games behind surging Minnesota and Kansas City.

As the offense continues to try and figure things out, the one individual constant this season continues to be one Tarik Skubal.

This week, the Tigers head to Cleveland for a Monday-Wednesday three-game set against the division-leading Guardians followed by hosting the Houston Astros this weekend for a trio of games Friday-Sunday.
