Tigers win road series in New York, drop two of three at home against Oakland

The first full week of the 2024 regular season saw the Detroit Tigers notch a .500 record to go into the second full week with a record of 6-3 overall.

The Tigers concluded their season-opening six-game road swing by taking two of three from the New York Mets and were three outs away from beginning the season 6-0.

Detroit can claim the honors as the last remaining undefeated team to start the season.

The Tigers then returned to Comerica Park for a three-game set against the lowly Oakland Athletics to begin the home portion of their regular season schedule, and after earning a one-run Home Opener victory on Friday, the Athletics would go on and take the next two games of the series while outscoring the home team by an 11-1 margin.

This week, the Tigers hit the road for a quick two-game road series against the Pittsburgh Pirates on Monday and Tuesday followed by hosting the Minnesota Twins for four games this weekend beginning on Thursday.
