Michigan hires Dusty May as new head basketball coach

The Michigan Wolverines wasted no time in landing its new head basketball coach in Dusty May, who spent the first six seasons of his collegiate head coaching career with the Florida Atlantic Owls.

The 47-year-old May compiled a 126-69 record at Florida Atlantic that included a trip to the Final Four last season and two consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances.

The news occurs roughly a week after former head coach Juwan Howard was relieved of his duties following a disappointing 8-24 season, his fifth and final season with his alma mater.
