GVSU’s Abe Swanson and Trace Hgrich land weekly GLIAC honors

The #2-ranked Grand Valley State Lakers are off to a perfect 5-0 start as they embark on the halfway point of the 2022 football season, and with team success comes continued individual success.

This week, the GLIAC honored not one, but two Lakers for their individual performances this past Saturday night during the 29-10 home victory over Saginaw Valley State in the annual “Battle of the Valleys.”

This season, Swanson, the native of St. Charles, Illinois, currently leads the team in tackles with 39 (15 solo) while also totaling a half a sack, one interception, and one forced fumble.

In addition, Hgrich, the Wheaton, Illinois native, has averaged 44.6 yards per punt and has put six punts inside the 20-yard line (18 punts total) while booming four 50 yards or more.
