Breathe Easy, Tigers Fans, There’s No Opt-Out Clause In A.J. Hinch’s Contract

A.J. Hinch is currently in his second season as manager of the Detroit Tigers, and after a 77-85 campaign in 2021 that saw the Tigers play like one of the best teams in Major League Baseball after a brutal April, this season has been met with numerous injuries and a lackluster offense.

For months, many fans had come to learn that there was apparently an opt-out clause in Hinch’s contract after this season.

However, that is not the case.

According to The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal, there is no opt-out clause of any kind in Hinch’s current five-year with the Tigers, which expires after the 2025 season.

In other Tigers news, Pitching Coach Chris Fetter will also not be leaving the organization anytime soon as he has removed himself from consideration for the open Michigan baseball head coaching gig.

Fetter played his college ball in Ann Arbor and served as their pitching coach for then-head coach Erik Bakich from 2017-2020.
