For the fourth time in the past eight seasons (2015, 2017, 2018, 2022), the Golden State Warriors have captured the NBA’s ultimate prize after disposing of the Boston Celtics in six games during this year’s NBA Finals that was capped off last night with a series-clinching 103-90 victory in Boston.
The Warriors have now won seven NBA Championships as an organization, surpassing the Chicago Bulls for third-most all-time.
Two players with Michigan ties were a part of Golden State’s run to the championship this season in former Spartan Draymond Green, who collects his fourth ring, and former Wolverine Jordan Poole, who gets his first. Poole becomes the first former Michigan player to be on an NBA Championship-winning team since Juwan Howard in 2013 with the Miami Heat.
In almost 21 minutes played per NBA Finals contest, Poole averaged just over 13 points per contest while shooting 43.5% from the floor, while Green stuffed the stat sheet putting up 6.2 points, 8 rebounds, 6.2 assists, and 1.7 steals in roughly 36 minutes per game.
