Michigan’s Juwan Howard Turns Down NBA Interest From L.A. Lakers

Just like Jim Harbaugh on the football side, the University of Michigan and fans of the Ann Arbor-based university have to put up with interest from the basketball professional ranks every offseason.

This past winter, it was Jim Harbaugh and the Minnesota Vikings (before Harbaugh was caught with his pants down), and now, it’s Juwan Howard and the reported interest coming from the Los Angeles Lakers.

As we all know, Howard has those NBA ties coaching with the Miami Heat and relationships he has built with current Lakers General Manager Rob Pelinka and future Hall of Famer LeBron James.

However, his love for the Wolverines is still stronger than any NBA job right now, and also the fact that he has two sons, Jace and Jett, that are currently playing for him in Ann Arbor. Long story short, the Lakers approached Howard with interest in the open head coaching position, but Juwan was not interested.

Is anyone out there really surprised by Juwan Howard’s decision to stay in college?
