Michigan State Hockey Names New Head Coach In Alumnus Adam Nightingale

Former Michigan State hockey alum and Detroit Red Wings assistant coach Adam Nightingale has been named as the Spartans’ eighth head coach in program history replacing alum Danton Cole, who was let go almost a month ago.

Nightingale arrives in East Lansing after two years as an assistant coach with the U.S. National Development Program in Ann Arbor. Prior to his stint with the USNTDP, Nightingale was an assistant coach for Red Wings during the shortened 2019-20 season.

The 42-year-old spent two seasons at MSU from 2003-05 after transferring from Lake Superior State totaling 22 points (12 goals and 10 assists) in 47 games played. The native of Cheboygan also served as an assistant captain during his two seasons with the Spartans.
