May 1st at 11:59 pm was officially the deadline for college football and basketball players to put their names in the transfer portal and be immediately eligible for the upcoming season.
In regards to the college basketball scene locally, the University of Michigan picked up another experienced point guard from the portal in Princeton’s Jaelin Llewellyn, who averaged 14 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 2.5 assists in three seasons (76 games played) with the Tigers. Llewellyn did not play during the 2020-21 season due to the Ivy League cancelling all sports that season due to the COVID pandemic.
As a result of Llewellyn transferring to Ann Arbor, Michigan saw a point guard leave the program right before the deadline in Frankie Collins, who appeared in 31 games (1 start) for the Wolverines during his freshman campaign totaling 2.8 points, 1.7 rebounds, and 1.4 assists per contest.
