The former #1 overall recruit in the 2022 class is on the move (again).

Ypsilanti’s Emoni Bates recently decided to throw his name into the transfer portal after one season with the Memphis Tigers.

A former verbal commit to Michigan State during the summer of 2020 before reopening his recruitment in April 2021, Bates finished his freshman campaign averaging 9.7 points and 3.3 rebounds in 18 games played and missed 15 games due to an apparent back injury.

Bates reclassified to the 2021 class and finished with the #3 overall ranking in the recruiting class.
