The transfer portal in college basketball has hit nearly 1,200 players this offseason and has become a big talking point from many head coaches over the past few years.
One head coach locally that has taken major exception to it is Michigan State’s Tom Izzo, who, to put it nicely, isn’t the biggest fan of the portal.
From an article in 247 sports, Izzo was quoted during a recent radio interview by saying, “I don’t think it’s great for the game and I think there’s drawbacks. I think it’s bad for the kids. I think kids are making a lot of bad decisions because we’re teaching them that the minute something goes tough, to get the hell out of dodge.”
Since 2018, Izzo has landed just two players from the portal.
Does Tom Izzo have a point when it comes to the transfer portal?
