Michigan and Michigan State have made this year’s “Big Dance.”
Following a rollercoaster regular season that included a COVID pause and their head coach get suspended for the final five regular season contests, the Wolverines did just enough to sneak in to the field of 68 as a #11 seed in the South Region and will get a first round matchup against the #6 Rams of Colorado State.
The game will be the very first game out the gate on Thursday at 12:15 pm in Indianapolis.
The Spartans locked up another NCAA Tournament spot for the 24th consecutive season and received the #7 seed in the West Region landing a first round matchup against the #10 Wildcats of Davidson. The main storyline from this game is MSU facing a familiar face in Foster Loyer, who spent three seasons in East Lansing before transferring to Davidson for his senior season.
MSU and Davidson will tip-off late on Friday night around 9:40 pm in Greenville.
On a quick side note in regards to the women’s tournament, the Michigan Wolverines women’s team has also punched its ticket to the NCAA Tournament and will host first and second round games for the first time in program history.
