Back in November, Michigan State Head Football Coach Mel Tucker signed a massive 10-year, $95-million contract to remain in East Lansing, and part of his new deal included a bigger salary pool for his assistant coaches to the tune of $7.5 million per year.
As a reward for sticking around with Mel Tucker, those assistant coaches received pay raises and has now put three assistants above the $1 million mark. The assistants that are now making over $1 million per year are offensive coordinator Jay Johnson, defensive coordinator Scottie Hazelton, and offensive line coach Chris Kapilovic.
According to the Detroit Free Press, Johnson received a $350,000 bump to $1.35 million, while Hazelton’s salary increased $150,000 to $1.1 million.
