Is MSU Billionaire Mat Ishbia Trying To Purchase The Lions?

Let’s cut right to the chase on this one….there is a certain podcast from Yahoo! Sports called the “College Football Inquirer” that recently threw out a comment that MSU billionaire Mat Ishbia, who’s one of the supposed donors linked to the proposed Mel Tucker contract extension, has been trying to purchase the Detroit Lions.

You can listen to the audio here (comment begins at the 2:12 mark). Pete Thamel, who makes the comment, doesn’t cite any sources, so it could all just be smoke and mirrors.

Ishbia is worth $7.7 billion, and according to Sports Illustrated, the Lions are the 30th-most valuable franchise in the NFL with a value of $2.4 billion and an operating income of -$22 million.

Here’s the obvious problem that we all know about at this point…..the Ford family will not sell the team. They are stubborn. They’re not going away any time soon.

Do you believe any of this rumor tossed out by Pete Thamel?
