Sean McVay Has Regrets With How The Jared Goff Trade Unfolded

Let’s face it, we all know that the Los Angeles Rams are currently enjoying their “honeymoon phase” with its shiny new quarterback behind center in Matthew Stafford, and we know that this Sunday’s game between the Lions and Rams in L.A. is probably going to be over by the end of the first quarter.

There are obviously many storylines to filter through prior to Sunday’s game even happening that includes how the whole Matthew Stafford trade was communicated by both organizations.

From the Lions perspective, Stafford wanted a change in scenery, and the Lions obliged, end of story. When it comes to the Rams, well, head coach Sean McVay didn’t exactly communicate the whole situation to Jared Goff very effectively. Recently, McVay tried to explain his side of the story of how the trade came about and said he regrets the break down in communication with Goff:

“You don’t want to catch guys off guard. It came together a lot faster than anybody anticipated, but yeah, of course I think that any time that tough decisions and things like that where people are affected, you always want to be as understanding, as empathetic as possible, think about it through the other person’s lens and there’s certainly things that I know I would do it a little bit differently if — when those situations arise in the future.”

McVay may be remorseful about his lack of communication with Goff on him getting traded to Detroit, but some national pundits have different takes on it to say the least:

Also, Goff apparently can’t win with another head coach other than McVay:

Do you believe Sean McVay when he says that he feels remorseful about not communicating to Jared Goff prior to the blockbuster trade happening back in January?
