Does Everson Griffen make the Detroit Lions a playoff contender?

The Detroit Lions made a pretty surprising move yesterday. They traded a 2021 sixth-round pick to the Dallas Cowboys in exchange for defensive end Everson Griffen.

Griffen signed a one-year deal with the Cowboys in the off-season and played just seven games with the team. He had 2.5 sacks during that time. That doesn’t seem like much, but when you look at the Cowboys as a whole this season, those number reflect how poor the ENTIRE team has played.

According to one report by LionsWire writer Jeff Risdon, it seems as though he wasn’t in proper shape once the season started. However, he’s come along over the last couple of weeks.

Griffen is now a 32-year-old veteran that might’ve lost his original burst, but he’s been one of the most consistent pass rushers in the NFL over the last 10 years.
