More NFL players opt out ahead of deadline

Another player has ‘opted out’ of the upcoming NFL season due to coronavirus concerns.

San Francisco 49ers’ receiver Travis Benjamin tweeted his decision Tuesday:

“First, I would like to thank the 49ers organization for their continued support. After much consideration and discussion with my family, I have decided to opt out of the 2020 NFL season as I feel this is the best decision for my family. I will continue to support my teammates and many friends around the league this season. As we continue navigate this pandemic I wish that everyone stays safe.”

Benjamin had just inked a one-year deal with the team in March. He’s the first on the team to opt out. A pair of Dolphins receivers, Albert Wilson and Allen Hurns, say they’ll also sit.

Can you fault players for worrying about the health and that of their loved ones? Would you be able to ‘opt out’ of your job, if you wanted to? Would it still be waiting for you next ‘season?’
