Tyson Fury says he was offered ‘Peanuts’ to fight Mike Tyson

Two-time heavyweight champ Tyson Fury says he was offered an opportunity to go toe-to-toe with the newly un-retired Mike Tyson — but the former champion wanted the lion’s share of the money.

“I was contacted by Mike Tyson’s people,” the 31-year-old says. “Me and Mike had a FaceTime, we had a Zoom call, we had a phone call like we always do. They was offering the money to Mike. They came back and offered us like peanuts completely.” The amount of the money offered to Tyson? $500 million, Fury says.

“It was like, ‘OK, this has gotta be a joke. Someone’s crazy,'” Fury says. “So, nothing ever happened with it.” The paycheck Tyson was hoping for falls $185 million short of the $685 million he made over his entire career.

Could a boxing match between Fury and Tyson bring in enough money to pay Tyson that much? Is his current comeback effort going to lead up to something big?
