EA Sports delays ‘Madden NFL 21’ unveiling due to Floyd protests

The unveiling of the latest John Madden football game has been delayed due to the widespread protests over George Floyd’s death.

In a statement released by game publisher EA Sports, which had planned a celebration Monday to reveal “Madden NFL 21,” reads, “We stand with our African American/black community of friends, players, colleagues and partners. Our immediate attention is on actions we can take to drive change against the unjust treatment and systemic bias that is plaguing the nation and our world. We’ll find another time to talk football with you.”

It’s unclear when the latest edition of the popular video game, which has sold more than 130 million copies over the years, will be unveiled.

Do you commend EA Sports for delaying the celebration? When did you first play “Madden NFL?”
