Verlander recovering from groin surgery

Astros pitcher Justin Verlander will spend the next six weeks taking care of his groin.

That’s the word from the Houston ball club’s general manager, who on Tuesday revealed Verlander has undergone successful surgery and will need a month-and-a-half to heal. “Initially, the hope was that physical therapy would be the proper course of action,” says GM James Click. “However, after a recent setback in his rehab, the medical staff recommended that a surgical procedure was necessary.”

Because the 2020 season has been pushed back until May because of the coronavirus, there’s a good chance the 37-year-old will be ready to go on opening day, Click adds.

At 37 years old, do you expect to see Verlander sidelined with more injuries as the season progresses? Is he the Astros’ best pitcher?
