Red Wings trade Mike Green to the Edmonton Oilers

The Detroit Red Wings continue to go with younger players and add draft capital. According to reports, they traded defenseman Mike Green to the Edmonton Oilers for a conditional draft pick and center Kyle Brodziak.

Here is James O’Brien’s analysis of the trade from NBC Sports:

Overall, this seems like a no-brainer for the Red Wings. They need to stockpile picks, so getting a fourth that could become a third — especially in 2020 — is pretty nifty. That’s especially true because, frankly, Green’s perceived value has never been lower.

This might be an opportunity for rookie Moritz Seider to get a call-up from Grand Rapids with the hole left at that position. What do you make of this move by the Red Wings?
