It was reported early this morning by Detroit Local 4′s Bernie Smilovitz that the Detroit Lions were engaged in trade talks for quarterback Matthew Stafford.
The Lions hold the No. 3 overall pick in this year’s draft so they do have an opportunity to select a high-level quarterback not named Joe Burrow because he’ll likely go No. 1 overall.
The Lions need to consider drafting Tua Tagovailoa No.3 overall. @ColinCowherd explains: pic.twitter.com/Mls1jFfm3z

Or it’s bait. There are teams that would love to swap picks with the Lions to get the second-best quarterback in the draft. Many believe that’s Tua Tagovailoa from Alabama.
The trade rumors aren’t true, according to Detroit’s general manager Bob Quinn.
Dave Birkett from the Detroit Free Press received a text from Quinn say the initial report was “100% False!!” about trading Stafford.
