Is Michigan basketball in trouble?

After a hot start, the Michigan Wolverines have been experiencing a downward slide.

The team is now just 2-6 in conference play, having lost five out of their last six conference games.

To make matters worse, head coach Juwan Howard suspended senior point guard Zavier Simpson. It is a suspension based on violation of “team policies”.

Here’s what Howard told Michigan Insider regarding the situation:

“We have team rules and unfortunately he broke one of them,” Howard said after asserting that the specific rule violated will remain in-house. “There are repercussions and consequences that you have to pay when you break team rules.

“Everyone, one through 16, I will hold accountable. If you break a team rule, you break a team rule, no matter who you are. No one’s bigger or better than the team.”

Simpson won’t be playing in tonight’s game on the road against Nebraska. The Cornhuskers are just 7-13 on the 2019-2020 season and have a 2-7 conference record.
