Sad news coming out of the Detroit Tigers organization. Catcher Chace Numata died on Monday after sustaining injuries from a skateboarding crash Friday morning.

Numata was just 27 years old. He spent the season playing in Double-AA with the Lake Erie Sea Wolves and in Triple-A with the Toledo Mud Hens.
Numata was a 14th round draft pick back 2010 by the Philadelphia Phillies out of Pearl City High School in Hawaii. Between Erie and Toledo, he hit .244/.296/.354 this season with four home.
