Detroit Lions WR Kenny Golladay setting a high bar for 2019 season

Kenny Golladay was fantastic in a struggling Lions offense during the 2018-2019 season. He led the Lions with 70 catches and over 1,000 yards receiving.

He has much higher expectations for himself in the 2019-2020 campaign. He recently talked with Dave Birkett from the Detroit Free Press about it.

“I for sure, like any receiver would say, I can be a 100-catch guy.”

Going from 70 to 100 catches in year three is a very high bar to set. There’s a couple of things to consider here.

The first is that the Lions offense will have more weapons this season than when Golladay did a majority of his damage last season.

Marvin Jones is back and healthy from a knee injury that kept him out of seven games last season. The Lions have also added Danny Amendola and Jesse James in free agency. T.J. Hockenson and Kerryon Johnson will play a major role in Darrell Bevell’s offense.

Bevell’s offense is the next thing to consider. The team’s he has been with as an offensive coordinator have been run-first schemes. It’s harder to reach such a high number of catches when considering these factors.

Do you think Golladay will take the next step and become one of the elite wideouts in the NFL this year?
