Milwaukee Brewers slugger and reigning National League MVP Christian Yelich will not be in tonight’s Home Run Derby. He wasn’t in yesterday’s lineup because of a sore back. Yelich has hit 31 home runs to this point in the season.
Oakland Athletics third baseman Matt Chapman will take Yelich’s place, and become the first A’s player to take part in the Home Run Derby since Josh Donaldson in 2014. Chapman has 21 home runs this season.
He is joined by Ronald Acuna Jr., Pete Alonso, Josh Bell, Alex Bregman, Vladimir Guerrero Jr., Joc Pederson, and Carlos Santana for the Derby at Cleveland’s Progressive Field.
