The Commodores have been to the CWS finals four times since 2011, winning their last national title in 2014.
Mason Hickman struck out 10 batters in six innings during the matchup, while freshman pitcher Kumar Rocker was named Most Outstanding Player from his performance in Game 2’s win.
Coach Tim Corbin, who led Vandy to both titles, said, “I felt we were going to hit well. I felt we were going to play well. I thought this was going to be a nice night for the kids.”
The Wolverines still need to be recognized as having one of the more memorable runs his CWS history.
They were one of the last four teams selected to play in the NCAA tournament and they made the most of it. The Maize & Blue took down some of biggest kids on the block: UCLA, Texas Tech, and Louisville.
Pitcher Tommy Henry had one of the more dominant stretches in tournament history. As a Michigan fan, your team left it all out there and put themselves in a position to beat a powerhouse program in college baseball.
Michigan played in the CWS for the first time since 1984.
What did you think of the game? How about Michigan’s postseason run?
