Detroit Pistons get great reviews after draft night

The Detroit Pistons owned the 15th and 45th overall pick going into the 2019 NBA draft.

Right before the big night, they traded Jon Leuer to the Milwaukee Bucks in a deal that gave them the 30th overall pick. Through a series of other trades during the draft, the Pistons ended up picking at the 15th, 37th, and 57th spots in the draft order.

With the 15th pick, the Pistons took forward Sekou Doumbouya, an 18-year-old who played in France.

They took Lithuanian forward Deividas Sirvydis at No. 37 overall. At No. 57 overall Detroit took Tennessee point guard Jordan Bone.

Many of the so-called ‘experts’ believe the Pistons did a great job drafting prospects this year. Sports Illustrated writer Jeremy Woo gave the Pistons an  A- grade for their work last night.

“Doumbouya took a tumble here, but he does have legitimate lottery upside if he puts it all together. Given where Detroit is as an organization, taking a big swing makes a lot of sense.”

Gary Parrish from CBS sports gave Detroit a perfect score for their firs round selection.
