Detroit Tigers go with offense in first two rounds of MLB Draft

The Detroit Tigers drafted a couple offensive players with their first two picks in the 2019 MLB Draft.

With the 5th overall pick, they selected outfielder Riley Greene from Hagerty High School in Oviedo, Fla. According to Anthoney Fenech from the Detroit Free Press, Greene is considered the best prep bat in this year’s draft.

He hit .422 with eight home runs and a .550 on-base percentage during his senior season.

In the second round, Detroit drafted Nick Quintana from the University of Arizona. He played third base for the Wildcats this year and hit .342 with 15 home runs.

Quintana also led the Pac-12 with 77 RBIs this season.
