Detroit Lions QB coach believes Matthew Stafford still has “rare” throwing arm

Matthew Stafford will be going into his 11th season as the starting quarterback of the Detroit Lions.

Whether you love him or hate him, one coach believes his arm talent hasn’t diminished a bit. Quarterbacks coach Sean Ryan believes he can make any throw on the field.

Here’s what he said in Dave Birkett’s article in the Detroit Free Press.

“I never saw him up close early on in his career other than when we played them,” Ryan said this week. “But yeah, it’s still rare. I mean, in my opinion, like I said, he’s a very natural thrower of the ball. He can make every throw. So I would classify (his arm) as definitely still rare.”

How much will he be relied on with a new system being put in place by offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell? He comes from the Seattle Hawks who had many dominant years running the football with Marshawn Lynch and other backs.

What do you think of Matthew Stafford? Do you believe he’s still the right guy for the job in Detroit?
