NFLPA To NFL Agents: Plan For ‘At Least A Year’ Of Work Stoppage

The NFLPA has been warning many people about a potential strike for the last two years, and a new development signaled more of the same.

Executive director DeMaurice Smith sent a letter to every agent saying the union is “advising players to plan for a work stoppage of at least a year in length” at the conclusion of the current collective bargaining agreement, which will end following the 2020 campaign.


Many of the issues that the NFLPA has with the league center around commissioner Roger Goodell as well as contract negotiations.
