As record Wind Chills freeze out West Michigan the authorities and the National Weather Service are asking motorists to stay off the roads.

Near record cold temps have had many local road commissions working overtime, but clearing efforts are nearly futile as sub zero readings are making streets ice packed and impassable.

Snow squalls and winds are also expected to drop visibility for extended periods today.
