Matt Patricia says it’s “way too early” regarding plans with the No. 3 pick in the upcoming draft

So what are the Detroit Lions going to do with their 3rd overall pick in the NFL Draft?

Some people say they need defense first. The Lions finished in the bottom half in the league in many major defensive statistics as a team. Their inability to rush the passer was on full display for a majority of the 2019 season.

There are even some people saying that the Lions should draft a quarterback. It wouldn’t be an awful time to pull the trigger on one in a draft class flooded with QB talent.

The Lions could even trade back in the draft order. There are a lot of teams searching for their next franchise quarterback so it would be an opportunity for Detroit to take advantage of that.

What does head coach Matt Patricia think about their draft position? Pump the brakes. Here’s what he told Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press:

“I think for us, we’re just going to go through the process, see how everything (is) handled. I don’t think you can commit to anything at all. I mean, it’s way too early for that.”

Would you expect anything less from Patricia? He’s not typically a man of many words, especially when it comes to any kind of future plans.

What are you hoping the Lions end up doing in the draft?
