Following scandal, even Pete Rose looks down on the Astros

In baseball, you know you’ve done something wrong when even Pete Rose looks down on you. The once-disgraced player has taken a shot at the Houston Astros for reportedly stealing signs from opposing teams.

In an interview with NJ.com, Rose compared his scandal to that of the Astros — and determined there really is no comparison. “I bet on my own team to win,” he said. “That’s what I did in a nutshell. I was wrong, but I didn’t taint the game. I didn’t try to steal any games. I never voted against my team. I bet on my team every night because that’s the confidence that I had in my players. But this is a little different. It’s a lot different, actually.”

Rose was banned from baseball in 1989 for betting on games. He admits he continues betting on baseball to this day.

In hindsight, did Pete Rose do such a bad thing? Should he be reinstated? Do you agree with his comments?
