Do you approve of Matt Patricia hiring Cory Undlin to be the next defensive coordinator?

Detroit Lions head coach Matt Patricia went back in time to hire another person on his coaching staff.

Cory Undlin will be the next defensive coordinator for the team. Him and Patricia go back to their roots with the New England Patriots. Undlin was a defensive assistant for the Patriots in 2004 when Matt Patricia broke into the league with the same team.

Undlin has been a coach in the NFL for almost 20 years. He spent his last five seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles as the team’s defensive backs coach. He worked with former Lions head coach Jim Schwartz who is the defensive coordinator there.

He comes from a scheme that emphasized pressure and man coverage.

Do you approve of this hire? Do you think he can help this defensive unit improve?

It wouldn’t take much. The Lions were at the bottom of the league in many defensive categories.
